The camera is where the compromise lives

There is no dedicated telephoto lens. The Duo has a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide that doubles as the macro lens, and the "2x zoom" you see in the camera app is a 12MP crop of the main sensor rather than a separate optical lens. On a $1,999 phone that is a real omission, and it is the single most common criticism in the launch coverage.

The front camera sits under the inner display, which keeps the folded-open screen clean, and video tops out at 4K/120fps. If photography is the reason you buy flagship phones, the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a tetraprism telephoto the Duo simply does not have, for $700 less.

How bad is the crease?

It is still there. Apple did not solve the crease; it made it harder to notice by putting a nano-texture matte coating over the inner panel that cuts glare, and glare is what makes a crease jump out at you. Reviewers who have handled both describe its visibility as broadly comparable to Samsung's current generation rather than dramatically better.

The more interesting split is in how much anyone cares. Among people who already own foldables, the crease reliably gets dismissed within a week of ownership. Samsung wins on thinness, weight and reach. Apple wins on the dust rating, the chip, and — if you already live in iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud — on not having to move your entire digital life onto Android. That last point is worth more than any spec in this table to most people reading it.

Supply is the part nobody plans for

Production reporting before launch pointed to genuinely tight supply: hinge assembly is the bottleneck, and shipment estimates for the year sit around 6 million units. Who should buy it, and who should not

Buy it if you genuinely work on your phone — email, documents, split-screen reading — and a 7.6-inch screen in your pocket changes your day.
